Forum for first time leaders
The focus is on the typical challenges of the role change: the new relationship with former peers, the first difficult personnel conversations, dealing with uncertainty in the new position.
Leadership Forum
Peer group coaching for leaders: a protected circle of five to seven leaders that meets once a month remotely, to work on their own topics and to learn from the experience of the others.
The idea
Over the past seven years I have led many German and international leadership forums. From that time I know how strongly this format works when leaders meet regularly as equals and can speak openly about their topics.
Exactly that experience goes into the Leadership Forum. The combination of group work in the forum and individual support in one to one coaching is the core of my approach. Forum and individual coaching can be booked independently and work well together.
Why a forum
Alone with the big decisions. Inside the company you often have nobody at eye level to speak with openly.
Blind spots. In your own organisation you rarely receive honest, unfiltered feedback.
Uncertainty in difficult conversations. With your team, the board or the shareholders.
Thinking through the same topics alone, again and again. Without new perspectives from outside.
Little room for your own development. Because daily leadership work leaves hardly any pauses.
And towards
Perspectives you do not get elsewhereHonest feedback from people who lead themselves and know exactly what you are talking about.
Faster and clearer decisionsThrough the combined experience of the group.
A reliable network among equalsOne that carries over years.
More confidence in difficult leadership situationsBecause you are no longer thinking alone.
Your own development as a leaderFor some, all the way to their own coaching skills.
For whom
The focus is on the typical challenges of the role change: the new relationship with former peers, the first difficult personnel conversations, dealing with uncertainty in the new position.
The focus is on strategic and personal topics: strategic positioning within the company, leading other leaders, long term professional direction.
Format and framework
Group sizeFive to a maximum of seven participants, so the amount of input stays right. Equal time and equal status for everyone.
FrequencyOne meeting per month, three hours, remote.
Programme durationTwelve months. That is how the trust develops which this format depends on.
StartBy arrangement, in small groups of five to seven participants.
FrameworkConfidentiality, shared responsibility, appreciative language and transparency.
The forums are a protected space that lives on trust and commitment.
Each forum also works with its own forum agreement. It sets clear rules on commitment, punctuality and confidentiality, which all participants commit to at the start.
The session
Every session follows the same reliable structure, so routine and trust develop quickly.
There are two prep sheets for your preparation. One helps you reflect before the next forum and bring your topic to the point. The other supports you when you take the coach role in a deep dive yourself, with questions instead of advice.
After a few sessions together, experienced participants take the coach role in a deep dive themselves and guide another person through their topic. For many participants that is the moment when the wish for deeper individual support appears.
